The Nineveh Plain Protection Units ( ; (アラビア語:وحدات حماية سهل نينوى)) or NPU is a military organization created in December 2014. The NPU has up to 250 men.〔http://aina.org/news/20141210231844.htm〕 A spokesman said the group also eventually plans to seek support from American and European governments. Sons of Liberty International, a non-profit military contractor, trained, advised and supplied the NPU from December 2014 to May 2015.〔http://www.sonsoflibertyinternational.com/missions/iraq/npu/〕 Nineveh plains is a region in the Nineveh Governorate of Iraq to the north and east of Mosul. It generally consists of three districts: Tel Keppe, Al-Hamdaniya, and Ain Sifni.
